Barbara Ann (Mrs. David) Kircher, 66, of Violet, Texas, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013. She was born April 16, 1947 in Sinton, Texas. Barbara moved to Violet in 1950 and graduated from St. John High School in Robstown. She was a homemaker and helped her family ranch and farm. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Violet where she taught religion and sang in the choir, and was a member of the Altar Society. She helped organize the Violet Historical Society, where she served as the Treasurer for many years, was the assistant curator at the time of her death and helped to preserve the old church building. The Texas Historical Commission and the Texas Historical Foundation awarded a citation to Barbara for distinguished service in 1978 signed by Governor Dolph Briscoe. She was also active in the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show in the homemaking division. She was preceded in death by her parents August Nedbalek and Pauline “Schwirtlich” Swetlick Nedbalek, and her sister, Judy Nedbalek. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, David L. Kircher; and her sons, Loring T. Kircher and Hans W. Kircher all of Violet, Texas. The Rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Violet, Texas. The Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at 10 A.M. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Violet, Texas with Rev. Msgr Celestine Murray and Rev. John Vega as concelebrants. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Violet, Texas. Pallbearers will be Randall Kircher, Craig Kircher, Ben Gwynn, Brent Busenlehner, Scott Davis and Scott Ordner. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Board of Violet Historical Society, Sheila Allen Goetzel, Raymond Hoelscher, Sam Morris, Edmund Hoelscher, Frank Cain and Norine Bernsen. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to the Violet Historical Society.
