ANTHONY EDWARD WOHLTMAN (Buz), age 68 of Sandia, Texas passed away June 7, 2013. Buz was born in St Louis, Missouri on September 1, 1944. Buz Wohltman retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot after 42 years of service. Buz retired as the Director of Quality Assurance. He had worked hard to achieve this position. He earned an Associates Degree from Del Mar College, a Bachelor Degree from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, TX and a Master's from the Florida Institute of Technology. As a Federal civil servant, Buz began his career in 1968 at the depot. He began as forklift operator. He worked days and went to school at night to earn his degrees. In 1976, he took a job with the Army's Aviation Command in St Louis. And 1978, he moved to the Army Material Command in Alexandra, VA. In 1980, he returned to the Corpus Christi Army Depot where he worked for the remainder of his career in Quality Assurance. Buz served his country during the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. He also was a part of the military reduction/shutdown of various operations in Europe. He traveled throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East. He was a Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He was aboard the USS Kittyhawk and USS Enterprise. He was honorably discharged in Lemoore, California in 1966. Buz was a wild and crazy sort of prince - a magical prince. In his youth, Buz was the Golden Gloves champ of the Dallas/Ft Worth area. Buz loved golf, fishing, poker, his kids, his grandkids, and golf again (Boy – did he love golf!). He loved jokes - he loved a good book - he loved his friends. Buz really loved an adventure. If he came to a fork in the road, he always took it. Buz always wanted to see what was over the mountain. He was curious about everything. Our lives are better for having known him. He will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his father, Anthony Edward Sr., his mother, Wilma Wohltman, his sister, Mary Sue Wohltman, his brothers, Toby Wohltman, and David Wohltman. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lydia Wohltman; their children, Chimene (Scott) Burnett of Corpus Christi, Texas, Elizabeth Wohltman of Tijuana, Mexico, John (Veronica) of Austin, Texas; his grandchildren, Samuel Burnett, age17, Ella Burnett, age 11, Calliope Wohltman, age 2; his brother, Terry Wohltman (Jeanie) of Hemet California; his mother-in-law, Mary Spence of Sandia, Texas; and his sister-in-law, Diana Spence of Seattle Washington. A Memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Annaville, 12497 Leopard St, 361-242-3205. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the San Patricio Baptist Church, 4842 County Rd 1059, Mathis, Texas. It would put a smile on Buz's heart.
