Amos Carrol Martin was promoted to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 29, 2021, at the age of 86.
Amos was born on March 21, 1935, in Sharp, Louisiana, to John and Ida Martin. He moved to Robstown in 1955 to work for his brother drilling water wells. That same year he met Hattie Lena Brunks at Central Baptist Church and they were married on December 13, 1955, and enjoyed over 65 years together. Amos bought Martin Water Wells in 1975 from his brother, Claude Martin, and ran the business until his retirement in 2000.
Amos lived his life devoted to his family and raised his children instilling in them his strong Christian faith and values. He never met a stranger and always had a joke to tell. His family will carry on his favorite quote, “It’s better to laugh than cry”.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his grandson, Zach Ellison and thirteen brothers and sisters, including his twin brother, Ezra Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Hattie Lena Martin; two daughters, Brenda Escobedo and Linda Lozano and one son, Larry (LaRae) Martin. Also surviving him are his six grandchildren, Nikki Escobedo, Megan Boyd, Lauren Moodie, Zalen Ellison, Lason Martin and Luke Martin, along with nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Caden and Hattie Boyd, Parker and Hunter Moodie, Brody and Asher Ellison, and Maci and Mox Martin, and his furry companion, “Buddy”.
Visitation will be at Sawyer-George Funeral Home on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Funeral services will be at River Hills Baptist Church on Friday, July 2, 2021, at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Robstown Memorial Park Cemetery.
