Alton G. Degenhardt, 82, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011. He was born December 24, 1928 in Shiner, Texas to John Paul and Alvina Mikesh Degenhardt. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and retired from CPL after 37 years of service. Mr. Degenhardt was a charter member of St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #7290, the 4th Degree Assembly #1097 and the V.F.W. Post 3837. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Clarence Kopecky and John Degenhardt, and his sister, Irene Kelly. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris Degenhardt of Corpus Christi, Texas; his children, Jeffrey (Dianne) Degenhardt of Austin, Texas, Pam (Kerry) Minninger of Madison, Mississippi, Carlton (Marilyn) Degenhardt of San Antonio, Texas and Diana (Mark) Walker of Robstown, Texas; his sister, Mildred (Ed) Lee of Bay City, Texas; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. The Rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Michael Howell as celebrant. Graveside services will follow at 1 P.M. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in Memory Gardens.
