A Centennial woman, Altie Faye McMannis was born August 29, 1921, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, to Mary Edna (McConnell) and Luther Houck. She took flight on May 3, 2022. Altie Faye grew up riding horses, picking cotton and competing with her brother Jasper in many activities that involved work; however, they made it fun.
Altie Faye married Earl McMannis in California. They remained married for 60 years. They moved from California to Corpus in 1944. In California, she worked at Douglas Aircraft, and then at waitressing before she found her passion working for PPG Chemical Division as a Lab Technician in Corpus. She enjoyed hunting, buying, selling, & trading alongside her husband, "Mac," and traveling. She was always up for an adventure.
After Earl's passing, Altie Faye moved to Beaumont, Tx for a short time and then settled in New Braunfels with her daughter.
Altie Faye is survived by her son, Earl McMannis, Jr. of Austin; daughter, Sondra von Gyllenband of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Richard Thomas of Carrollton, Texas, Earl Pom McMannis (wife Patti), Judith McMannis, Sandy McMannis of Austin, Brandon Crespo McMannis of Puerto Rico, Austin Mintas of Beaumont and Sandy Captain of Austin. Altie Faye has great grandchildren, Stephen, Zena, Gabby, Feliciano, Vanessa, Jeremiah, Joseph, Vanisha as well as 2 great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life will be Friday, May 6th at 6:30 p.m. at Unity Church of New Braunfels.
Graveside service Tuesday, May 10th at 1:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Corpus Christi, TX.
Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of YOUR choice or to Cancer Research.
