Alejo M. “Chito” Salinas of Robstown, died at home surrounded by his family on December 6, 2016. He was 79. He served in the U. S. Army. He was a retired welder and pipefitter. Mr. Salinas had a passion for music. In his early years he was the founder of El Conjunto Torbellinos del Norte. He was an avid hunter. He enjoyed hunting with his brother for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Apolinar and Santos Salinas; his daughter Cynthia Ann Salinas; his son, Jason Jimenez. His in laws, Aguinaldo and Sara Rivera; his brother, Abel M. Salinas and brother-in-law, Amando Garza. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Umbelina Salinas; his grandson, Jonathan Salazar; three sisters, Elydia Garza and Emelda Ozuna of Premont, Texas and Elsa (Victor) Gonzales of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister-in-law, Espie Salinas of Robstown. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Bill Marquis as celebrant. Burial will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
