Adrain Roy Richter, Sr, born August 24, 1935, in Christine, Texas, died February 6, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Jenell, of 59 years, his children, Roy Jr. (Kris), Kathy (Rick), and Edward (Cathy), by his grandchildren Nathalie, Amber, Johnny, Michelle, Michael, and Shelby plus seven great grandchildren. Roy is also survived by his brothers V.T. and Richard and by his special friend Heidi Dog. He was preceded in death by his parents, Taylor and Leona; his sister, Delaine; his brothers, Kenneth, Pat, and Larry, and his grandson, Colby. Roy was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 7290, where he was a fourth degree Knight and former Grand Knight. As a Catholic, he was a passionate proponent and advocate of adoption, not abortion. Our Dad was proud of being raised in Freer, TX and had many jokes about his upbringing in a dusty oil town. He graduated from Freer High School and attended Texas A&I University before enlisting in the US Army. He enjoyed a full career at Southwestern Refining before retiring to a life filled with travels, hobbies, hugs from grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by all who ever delighted in knowing him. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday February 8, 2017 with a Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow at 1:00PM at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. The Knights of Columbus Council 7290 will serve as pallbearers.
